logging - Syslog - Is it a good idea to dump all of your applications' logs to Syslog? -

i developing many applications working , having give-and-take how consolidate logs. seeing many applications, dump logs /var/log/ or directory related application itself.

ex. /var/log/hadoop, /var/log/access_log, etc.

but colleague said "just set in syslog". so, centralised , easy troubleshoot. don't have know log setting in each application.

so, advantage of using syslog on putting log file in own application? developer centric set log file in /var/log/ or directory of choices? or best practice on syslog?
