i using magento 1.4.0.1 , trying export big database takes lot of time. there anyway can products in magento database tables in next format?

not sure if functionality same in 1.4 magento on version 1.9.x, but, in later versions have export section under scheme > import/export > export proceeding window, can select products drop-down , take attributes want export. have had mixed results exporting , re-importing info in way , opt database backup/restore carry out tasks this.
