git - Remove submodule repository from Xcode source control -

i had 2 submodules deleted recently. removed them .gitmodules, removed them project directory, removed them .git/modules. xcode still thinks they're existing in source control. noticed xccheckout file contains remotes. googled half of hr how remove them, , found single f...g instruction remove them manually xccheckout, others how remove git back upwards project (which isn't f...g need) or questions should set xccheckout .gitignore or not.

am doing wrong? isn't there way remove submodule link xcode project programme created it? needs this?
