i've begun looking 3d game development , want create open world. problem anticipate having backdrop landscaping such mountains , city skylines straining performance-wise since open-world implies can visit them (plus, designer don't putting invisible walls everywhere break immersion.)
a solution i've been able come creating high- medium- , low-detail version of pieces of landscape , render them in particular fashion depending on how far away player is.
however, there improve ways take care of problem? wouldn't have 3 of each resource (if not more) in order create game run smoothly.
