xml - Apache fop: ToC handles non-Roman data but body cannot -

i have managed generate pdf output xml info contain non-roman characters, e.g., chinese. done selecting truetype font, generating font matrics in xml, etc.

what puzzling me not doing of above, or introducing font type can handle chinese characters, leaving apache fop work on default mode, output where

in table of contents, chinese texts come out perfectly in body, chinese characters replaced "#", i.e., needs font.

a screen shot given below.

can explain why toc behaves differently please? many thanks!

basically fonts info "bookmarks" have chosed reader application, not file. therefore, adobe "finds" characters within application , not pdf file.

xml fonts xsl-fo
