i have clickonce application has worked fine years. made few changes application.

the application used in own solution added solution of mine intention create utilize of of libraries have in solution. (but didn't alter references yet.) i updated application .net 4.0 .net 4.5. i add together 2 new settings.

i didn't notice right way changed how application handles user settings. before user settings have preserved across upgrades. when alter settings persist until force out new version. @ point settings revert before made these changes (and new settings revert default.)

i did digging , found in (and other user's) c:\users...\local\apps... there there folders 3 versions

1.0.0.0 1.9.8.114 1.10.4.0

the current version 1.11.3.16 , appears settings beingness saved , loaded 1.10.4.0 after update loaded 1.9.8.114.

it turns out first time ever other me had changed code setting version 1.10.4.0 in assemblyinfo.cs file. 1 time took out reverted old behavior.

i still don't understand why did did however.
