in cloudera hadoop distribution, cloudera manager(cm) , cdh different components. upgrading cdh4 cdh5, need upgrade cloudera manager version cm5 first. you cannot utilize parcels upgrading cloudera manager version base of operations component. depends on linux distribution, tools (yum/apt) can used upgrading cm.
if using centos or rhel, may utilize yum upgrading cm, update /etc/yum.repos.d/cloudera-manager.repo
file follows :
[cloudera-manager] # packages cloudera manager, version 5, on redhat or centos 6 x86_64 name=cloudera manager baseurl=http://archive-primary.cloudera.com/cm5/redhat/6/x86_64/cm/5.2.0/ gpgkey = http://archive.cloudera.com/cm5/redhat/6/x86_64/cm/rpm-gpg-key-cloudera gpgcheck = 0
after updating file, may utilize command yum upgrade cloudera-manager-*
upgrading.
once cm cm5, upgrading cdh4 cdh5 parcel best option. next cloudera documentation can used upgrading
