Create Hyper-V from existing VHDX -

we have hyper-v server images if possible not rebuild. original machine installed on no longer available.

so have 1 vhdx , 8 avhdx. vhdx virtual disk , avhdx check points if remember correctly.

the process used build these machines such base of operations install...checkpoint..install sql server...checkpoint...install visual studio...checkpoint etc...

i created new vm on windows 8 box , in create wizard told utilize existing vhdx pointed previous one.

the scheme boots , takes right password. comes @ base of operations install point. checkpoints not show in hyper-v manager , consequently not applied vm.

now have found there sort of checkpoint database (xml) , several related folders in

c:\programdata\microsoft\windows\hyper-v

thinking maybe there pointers realign seems editing them not supported.

i tried under settings alternative of test vm alter checkpoint location. seems place checkpoints stored , doesn't seem pick them if exist........this behavior makes sense pointer xml / database thingy info should come from.

so there way these checkpoints associated / recreate / create utilize of these existing hyper v machines?
